Clement Lenglet to choose FC Barcelona over Man United transfer – report
Clement Lenglet is set to move FC Barcelona ahead of Manchester United, according to a report
Clement Lenglet is set to move to FC Barcelona after the French defender snubbed a switch to Manchester United, according to a report.
Spanish media outlet Sport, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, is reporting that the Red Devils are set to be disappointing in the race to sign Lenglet in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that Lenglet is set to become a FC Barcelona player on 1 July after the Catalan side decided to pay the Sevilla defender’s €35m contract release clause this summer.
According to the same story, the promising French defender is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Catalan side despite interest from Manchester United in the Frenchman.
The 23-year-old scored three goals and made one assist in 35 games in La Liga last term, while he netted one goal in nine Champions League appearances.
Manchester United are thought to be keen on improving their defence in the summer transfer window given the inconsistent performances of Jose Mourinho’s current options.
The Red Devils secured their best finish in the Premier League table since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement after Manchester United ended up in second spot but 19 points behind champions Manchester City.
