Man United make firm proposal to sign 22-year-old La Liga defender – report
Manchester United want Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet following his impressive Champions League performance, according to a report
Manchester United have made an offer to sign Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, according to a report in France.
French media outlet Le Parisien, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Manchester United made a firm bid to sign the 22-year-old full-back from Sevilla.
The same article states that Manchester United are interested in Lenglet on the back of his performance against Romelu Lukaku in the Champions League round of 16.
Lenglet managed to keep the Belgium international under wraps as Sevilla eased to a 2-1 win over Manchester United in the first round of the knockout stage.
According to the same story, the French centre-half has a €35m (£30.7m) release clause that the Red Devils could activate in the current transfer window.
However, Le Parisien add that Manchester United could face competition from La Liga champions FC Barcelona in the race to sign the Sevilla star.
Manchester United have also been linked with a potential swoop to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld in the summer transfer window.
England international Phil Jones conceded a first-half penalty to allow Eden Hazard to score the winner from the penalty spot in Chelsea FC’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
