Manchester United are keeping tabs on Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Real Madrid ahead of discussions between the Portugal captain and the Champions League winners, according to a report in Spain.

Spanish media outlet Don Balon, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that Ronaldo is set to hold crisis talks with the new Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui.

The same article states that the Portugal international has a tense relationship with Real Madrid following his remarks after the Champions League final.

Ronaldo hinted that his time at Real Madrid was coming to an end after los Blancos were 3-1 winners against Liverpool FC in Kiev last month.

According to the same story, the new Real Madrid manager has reached out to Ronaldo ahead of proposed discussions between both parties.

Lopetegui was controversially confirmed as Real Madrid’s new boss earlier this month after he replaced Zinedine Zidane at The Bernabeu.

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in Portugal’s 3-3 draw with Spain their World Cup opener, including a stunning free-kick on the stroke of full-time.

The Portugal captain netted a fourth-minute winner in a 1-0 victory over Morocco in their second group-stage fixture.

Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid from Manchester United in the 2009 summer transfer window.
