Man United to make Spaniard highest paid player in his position – report
Man United are set to make David De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper in the world, say reports
Manchester United are set to make David De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper in the world with his new contract at the club, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Marca, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils are locked in talks with De Gea to secure his long-term future following his brilliant performances in recent seasons.
The same report says that Manchester United are prepared to offer De Gea a new deal worth £18.4m a year, which is the equivalent of £350,000 a week.
That would place him ahead of Manuel Neuer, who is believed to earn around £13m a year with Bayern Munich.
De Gea has been earning lots of praise for his strong performances for Manchester United in recent months, and he was particularly impressive as the Red Devils finished second in the Premier League last season.
He has long been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid, but it seems that Manchester United are now closing in on securing the long-term future of the Spain international.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have already completed their first two signings of the summer transfer window by wrapping up deals for both Diogo Dalot and Fred.
