Reporter confirms Man United want ‘exciting’ summer signing
Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge sheds light on Man United's pursuit of FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot will prove an exciting prospect for Manchester United if the Red Devils complete a deal for the Portuguese defender, according to Michael Bridge.
The Red Devils have been linked with a surprise swoop to sign the inexperienced FC Porto full-back in the current transfer window.
Dalot made eight appearances in all competitions in the 2017-18 season but his lack of experience hasn’t dissuaded Manchester United from making an offer for the full-back.
The teenager was part of the FC Porto team that lost 5-0 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League round of 16 last season.
Manchester United are thought to be keen to sign Dalot to provide cover for veteran right-back Antonio Valencia as well as give another option on the left side of their defence.
Sky Sports News reporter Bridge shed light on Manchester United’s pursuit of the Portuguese talent in the current transfer window.
“He is someone they will be looking at not being a first-team starter,” Bridge told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“He sounds exciting. He hasn’t had too much experience for FC Porto.”
Manchester United confirmed the signing of Brazil international Fred from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk in their first summer deal on Tuesday evening.
The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table but finished 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.
The 20-time English champions lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final.
