Diogo Dalot has described the chance to play at Anfield as “unbelievable” as the Manchester United signing prepares to face Liverpool FC next season.

The 19-year-old completed a move to Manchester United from Portuguese giants FC Porto on Wednesday evening to become the club’s second signing of the summer transfer window.

Dalot has signed a long-term contract at Old Trafford after he came the first Portuguese player to move to Manchester United since Jose Mourinho’s appointment in May 2016.

The teenager made eight appearances in the 2017-18 season to get some experience under his belt and build a glowing reputation.

Dalot wasn’t part of the FC Porto team that lost 5-0 to Liverpool FC in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 in Portugal.

The versatile defender featured in the return leg as FC Porto managed to hold Liverpool FC to a goalless draw at Anfield on a special European night atmosphere.

Asked about his experience of playing against Liverpool FC in the Champions League given Manchester United’s bitter rivalry with the club, Dalot told the club’s website:

“Yeah, it was unbelievable, my debut in the Champions League. Just feeling the weather, the Champions League, the song of the Champions League, it was very good.”

The Red Devils signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this week.
