Insider predicts Man United will spend £50m on 25-year-old midfielder
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth believes Man United will spend £50m on Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred
Manchester United will have to pay around £50m to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred this summer, Dharmesh Sheth has claimed.
The Red Devils are in the market to sign a holding midfielder to improve Jose Mourinho’s options in the middle of the park.
Fred has established himself as one of Europe’s most promising midfielders following his impressive performances in the Champions League.
The 25-year-old was thought to be close to a move to Manchester City in the January transfer window but a deal failed to materialise.
Manchester United lost Michael Carrick to retirement at the end of the 2017-18 season to leave a hole in the middle of the park.
Belgium international Marouane Fellaini is set to become a free agent this summer unless the Red Devils agree to hand him a new deal.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth believes Manchester United will cough up a transfer fee of around £50m with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
“Fred would cost in excess of £50m,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “It seems like a reasonable deal for a Brazil international.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after finishing above Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley following Eden Hazard’s winner.
