Insider claims Man United in advanced talks to sign 25-year-old
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth believes Man United are close to signing Fred from Shakhtar Donetesk
Manchester United are in advanced talks to make Fred their first summer signing, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Red Devils have been regularly linked with a potential move to sign the Brazil international in the summer transfer window.
Fred has been linked with Premier League champions Manchester City but the Citizens didn’t act upon their interest in January.
The defensive midfielder would be capable of improving Jose Mourinho’s options in the middle of the park.
England international Michael Carrick has retired and has become part of the Portuguese head coach’s staff at Old Trafford.
Marouane Fellaini’s contract situation is still unresolved ahead of the World Cup and could be available on a free transfer.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth believes Fred is close to securing a move to Manchester United.
“We are told talks are at an advanced stage,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“The deal is close. Man United hope to seal this deal before the World Cup.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season and ended up 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley after Eden Hazard’s winner.
