Fred will prove a great addition to the Manchester United team, ESPN FC pundit Craig Burley has claimed.

The Brazil international has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester City and Manchester United over the past 12 months.

The Citizens were thought to be close to completing a deal for the South American in the January transfer window.

However, a deal failed to materialise and Manchester United moved ahead of their bitter rivals in the race to sign Fred.

The Red Devils completed a £52m deal to sign the South American last week following five seasons at Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 25-year-old will be tasked with improving the Manchester United midfield in the Premier League next term.

He will have to forge a partnership with club record signing Paul Pogba and Serbia international Nemanja Matic.

Former Chelsea FC defender Burley believes Fred is a great addition to the Manchester United team.

“Somebody who can get about the pitch. He is dynamic,” Fred told ESPN FC.

“He is relatively quick. He will inject a bit of pace in their game. Signing better players will help Pogba get in the game. Fred will absolutely do that.”

Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table to secure their best finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
