Man United are close to signing Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to Sky Sports reporter Peter Graves
Manchester United are close to completing a deal to sign midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to Sky Sports News reporter Peter Graves.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to bring the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder to Old Trafford in recent days as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Manchester United are believed to be looking for midfield reinforcements this summer, with Michael Carrick having retired and Marouane Fellaini’s future at the club still unclear.
Mourinho will be keen to get Manchester United’s transfer business done as early as possible this summer as he bids to try and assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
Now, Sky Sports News reporter Graves has appeared to confirm that the Red Devils are indeed on the brink of concluding a deal to sign Fred this summer.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre podcast, Graves said: “Could Jose be set to clinch his first deal of the summer?
“Sky Sports understand that Man United are now close to signing Fred.”
It was something of a disappointing second campaign for Mourinho at Manchester United as they ended the season without a trophy.
The Red Devils ended up in second place in the Premier League table and 19 points behind Manchester City in the top flight.
