Manchester United are ready to make a British record £176m bid to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, according to a report.

Spanish publication OK Diario, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that Manchester United are preparing a club record bid to sign the Wales international in the summer transfer window.

The same article states that Bale still hasn’t made a decision about his future after Zinedine Zidane stood down as manager at the end of the 2017-18 following their Champions League success.

Former Spain head coach Julen Lopetegui has taken over the reins from Zidane to offer Bale a lifeline at Real Madrid following five successful seasons in the Spanish capital following his £85m move from Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale has a contract that will run until 2022 with the Champions League holders to ensure Real Madrid can extract maximum value for the 2013 PFA player of the year.

The 29-year-old has won four Champions League titles, La Liga and Copa del Rey during his spell at the Spanish giants.

Manchester United signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk in the current transfer window.

The Red Devils have also signed Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto in their first summer deal.
