Duncan Castles gives Man United supporters update on Gareth Bale’s situation
Reporter Duncan Castles believes Gareth Bale's attitude is starting to change amid Man United interest
Duncan Castles has claimed that Gareth Bale is feeling unsupported at Real Madrid amid reported interest from Manchester United.
The Wales international’s future at los Blancos is unclear after falling down the pecking order at the La Liga giants this term.
Bale scored four times in his final three games before the Champions League final but his efforts weren’t sufficient to secure a spot in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI.
The 29-year-old came off the bench to restore Real Madrid’s lead with an incredible overhead kick after Sadio Mane cancelled out Karim Benzema’s fortuitous opener.
The Welsh forward gave los Blancos a two-goal cushion with a long-range strike that Liverpool FC goalkeeper Loris Karius parried into his net to give Real Madrid a 3-1 win.
Bale’s Champions League final performance alerted some of Europe’s top clubs, particularly after his post-match interview where he showed his discontent at Real Madrid.
Manchester United have been regularly linked with a move to sign Bale over the past few seasons but a deal has failed to materialise with the Welshman content to stay put.
However, reporter Castles believes Bale’s attitude is starting to change to open the door to a potential move to Manchester United.
“There is a big difference this summer,” Castles told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Every summer until now, he has not wanted to leave Madrid. He was happy there… Going into this transfer window, it’s been made very clear to Bale that if he wants to resolve his situation with Madrid, he needed to have a good end to the season.
“He has done that, especially in the final. He wanted to make it clear he is ready to move. He is putting the pressure on Madrid to make a decision on him. He is fed up of the way he has been treated there.”
