Reporter confirms Man United can afford to sign La Liga super star
ESPN FC expert Gabriele Marcotti confirms Manchester United can afford to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale
Manchester United are one of the few clubs that could afford to sign Gareth Bale this summer, according to Gabrielle Marcotti.
The Wales international has been tipped to leave the Champions League winners in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Bale struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Real Madrid team under Zinedine Zidane in the 2017-18 season.
However, the 29-year-old put himself in the shop window with a brilliant performance from the bench in the Champions League final.
Bale scored twice to help Real Madrid to ease to a 3-1 win against Liverpool FC in the Champions League showpiece.
ESPN FC reporter Marcotti believes Manchester United could afford to sign Bale in the current transfer window.
“My understanding is Bale’s agent has been in touch with the relevant people,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.
“There are very few clubs who can afford Bale. Man United are one of the very few clubs to match.
“It would be mad for Man United not to make an enquiry.”
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
The Red Devils ended the season without a trophy in Jose Mourinho’s second season in charge.
