Manchester United are ready to launch a bid to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this summer, according to reporter Daniel McDonnell.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after finishing above Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC.

Manchester United still ended up 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City to highlight the gap between the two derby rivals.

Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final thanks to Eden Hazard’s first-half winner at Wembley.

Manchester United will need to add more quality players to their squad if the Red Devils are going to overhaul Manchester City next term.

Bale hinted that he could have a future away from Real Madrid following his man of the match performance in the Champions League final.

The Wales international scored two goals, including an incredible bicylce kick, to help Real Madrid ease to a 3-1 win against Liverpool FC in Kiev last month.

Daily Mirror reporter McDonell confirmed that Manchester United are ready to move to sign Bale this summer.

“Extremely high,” McDonnell told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“There are a handful of clubs who can afford Bale.

“All the noise out of Old Trafford is they would move for him.”

Bale has won four Champions League titles, the La Liga crown and the Copa del Rey during his spell at Real Madrid.
