Jose Mourinho has already held talks with Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward about signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer, according to a report in England.

The Manchester Evening News, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that Mourinho and Woodward have help preliminary discussions about signing the Wales international.

The same article states that the Red Devils were already interested in Bale before he spoke out about his future before the Welshman spoke out about his future in Kiev.

According to the same story, the Manchester United chief is desperate to sign Bale to bolster the rebuilding job that Mourinho is overseeing at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been regularly linked with a swoop to sign Bale over the past few seasons but a deal has failed to materialise.

Mourinho, like Woodward, is thought to be a keen admirer of the former Tottenham Hotspur winger to increase the likelihood of a bid from Manchester United this summer.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last term to secure their best finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last term.
