Manchester United want to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer but they have been given no indication that the Spanish side are willing to do business, according to reports in the British media.

ESPN is reporting that the Red Devils are keen on a deal to bring the Wales international to Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho looks to further add to his attacking options ahead of next season.

Bale’s future made the headlines last week after he hinted that he would be open to a move away from Real Madrid due to his lack of playing time last season.

However, there has been a further twist in the plot, as Real Madrid are now looking for a new manager after Zinedine Zidane stood down after the Champions League final.

According to the same report, Manchester United retain a strong interest in Bale, but they will not make an official attempt to try and sign the 28-year-old Wales star unless they are given encouragement by Real Madrid to do so.

The same article says that Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett is due to shortly meet Real Madrid chiefs to discuss the attacker’s position at the club beyond this summer.
