Manchester United are one of two clubs that could sign Gareth Bale in the summer transfer window, Ian McGarry has claimed.

The Wales international has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester United over the past few seasons.

The 29-year-old found himself out of favour throughout much of the 2017-18 La Liga season under Zinedine Zidane.

Bale scored two goals from the bench after Real Madrid were 3-1 winners against Liverpool FC in the Champions League final.

The Welsh forward has won four Champions League titles, the Copa del Rey and the La Liga crown during his five seasons at Real Madrid.

Bale opened the door to a potential summer move in the immediate aftermath of the Champions League final in Kiev.

Reporter McGarry claimed that Manchester United will face competition from Bayern Munich to sign Real Madrid.

“He leaves,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast. “He has become very frustrated at Real Madrid.

“Man United and Bayern are the two clubs who will contend for his signature.”

Bale moved to Real Madrid in a £85.7m deal from Tottenham Hotspur in the 2013 summer transfer window.

Manchester United signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal back in Janaury.
