Manchester United have been quoted £50m to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng, according to a report.

Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Germany international is on Jose Mourinho’s eight-man wishlist to improve his Manchester United defence ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

The same article states that the Red Devils have held discussions with Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld about a summer move but Mourinho is keen to find a cheaper options that the Belgium international.

According to the same story, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich could be willing to accept an offer as low as £43m for the the former Manchester City defender in the current transfer window.

However, the Manchester media outlet reveal that Serie A giants Juventus are also in the market to sign the 29-year-old centre-half this summer.

The Red Devils finished in second place behind Manchester City in the Premier League table last season to secure their continued participation in the Champions League under Portuguese head coach Mourinho.

Manchester United have signed Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto as well as agreeing to a £52m deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Fred from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
