Juventus are on the brink of beating Manchester United to a deal to sign Joao Cancelo, according to a report.

Italian media outlet IlBiancoNero.com, as quoted by transfer experts Calciomercato, is reporting that the Serie A champions are edging closer to a deal to sign the Portuguese full-back.

The same article states that Juventus have made an offer of €30m plus an addition €5m in add ons in an attempt to convince La Liga side Valencia to sell the promising full-back to the Turin side.

According to the same story, the Italian giants have already agreed terms with Cancelo to leave Juve in pole position to sign the 24-year-old ahead of Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho was thought to be an admirer of the Valencia full-back and the Portuguese head coach is rumoured to be in the market to strengthen his options in defence ahead of the new Premier League season.

Manchester United have already signed Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto in the current transfer window to provide Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Luke Shaw with increased competition for a starting spot.

The Red Devils finished in second place last term.
