Juventus have moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign João Cancelo in the summer transfer window, according to a report in Italy.

Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com is reporting that the Serie A champions have stolen a march on Manchester United in the race to sign Cancelo.

The same article states that Valencia sports director and chief executive Pablo Longoria and Mateo Alemany have flown to Milan to meet with Juventus officials.

According to the same story, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are both interested in Cancelo in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, Juventus are thought to be in pole position to sign the highly rated full-back ahead of the Premier League duo.

Jose Mourinho is in the market to improve his options at left-back following Luke Shaw’s disappointing performances under the Portuguese head coach.

Indeed, the Manchester United boss hasn’t been afraid to criticise Shaw for his performances in training and on the pitch.

The Red Devils signed Brazil international Fred in a £17m deal from Ukrainain Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this month.

Manchester United have also snapped up FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto.
