Mourinho told 26-year-old would be ‘great’ Man United signing
Stewart Robson believes Manchester United should sign Kalidou Koulibaly to improve their defence this summer
Kalidou Koulibaly would be a great addition to the Manchester United defence, Stewart Robson says.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign a new defender in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Manchester United are thought to be looking at Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld over the past few months.
The 20-time English champions have also been touted with an interest in Real Madrid centre-half Raphael Varane.
However, recent reports suggests Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho could turn his attention to Koulibaly at Napoli.
The Senegal international helped the Naples side to finish in second place in Serie A last season behind Juventus.
Former Arsenal star Robson believes Koulibaly is exactly the type of centre-half that Mourinho needs at Manchester United.
“Bailly hasn’t done it at Man United,” Robson told ESPN FC. “He has been brilliant for Napoli over the past two years.
“He would suit their style of play. He is the right sort of defender for them.”
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term to secure a Champions League spot for the second successive season.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
