Man United to sign 35-year-old as third summer recruit – report
Man United are closing in on a deal to bring Lee Grant to Old Trafford, according to reports
Manchester United are closing in on a deal to bring goalkeeper Lee Grant to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the Red Devils are closing in on a deal to bring the 35-year-old shot-stopper to Old Trafford as a reserve option behind both David De Gea and Sergio Romero.
The same report says that Grant is being lined up as Manchester United’s third-choice shot-stopper for next season, with Joel Perreira likely to be sent out on loan.
The veteran shot-stopper is reportedly going to join Manchester United on a free transfer and he is likely to sign a one-year contract with the Red Devils.
Grant would become Manchester United’s third signing of the summer after the Red Devils concluded deals for both Brazilian midfielder Fred and full-back Diogo Dalot.
Jose Mourinho is aiming to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season after the Red Devils finished in second place and without a trophy last term.
The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013, but they did win the Europa League and League cup in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge.
