Manchester United are ready to move for AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to a report
Manchester United are set to switch their focus to AS Roma forward Lorenzo Pellegrini after growing frustrated in their pursuit of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to a report in England.
The Daily Star, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Manchester United are reluctant to pay £88m to meet Lazio’s valuation of their Serbia international in the current transfer window.
The same article states that Manchester United are now ready to pursue AS Roma star Pellegrini as an alternative to Milinkovic-Savic after growing frustrated in their pursuit of the Lazio star.
According to the same story, Mourinho could sign Pellegrini to replace Marouane Fellaini in the Manchester United squad as the Belgium international prepares to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer.
Pellegrini returned to AS Roma last summer after the Italian forward spent two seasons at Serie A minnows Sassulo.
He scored three times in 27 games in Serie A last season as well as making eight appearances in their run to the Champions League last four.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last term behind runaway champions Manchester City.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month.
