Austrian media outlet Osterreich, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils boss has been in contact with the West Ham star’s brother Danijel Arnautovic.
The same article states that Jose Mourinho views the Austria international as a potential option to strengthen his attacking options in the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, the Manchester United manager has expressed his desire to bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford this summer.
Arnautouvic worked with the Portuguese head coach during a brief stint at Inter Milan before he moved to Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen.
The Austrian forward scored 11 goals and made six assists during his first season at West Ham after Arnautovic moved to the Hammers in a £25m deal from Stoke City last summer.
Manchester United signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetesk last week.
The Red Devils have also completed a swoop to sign FC Porto starlet Diogo Dalot over the past few days to strengthen their full-back options.
