Man United consider bid for 25-year-old Real Madrid midfielder – report
Manchester United consider offer for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the summer transfer window, according to a report
Manchester United are weighing up a bid to sign Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Manchester United are considering an offer to sign the Croatia international in the current campaign.
The same article states that the Red Devils could face competition from Premier League champions Manchester City, who view the Croatia international as an alternative to Napoli star Jorginho.
According to the same story, Real Madrid would be reluctant to sell Kovacic given his versatility and ability to provide cover for Real Madrid starting XI.
Both Manchester clubs would have to cough up a hefty fee given the Croatian midfielder has three years left to run on his current deal with los Blancos.
Kovacic has won three Champions League titles and the La Liga crown during his spell in the Spanish capital following a move to Real Madrid from Inter Milan in 2015.
The 24-year-old has scored three goals in 109 appearances in all competitions in his Real Madrid career so far.
Manchester United are looking to improve their options in the middle of the park this season.
The Red Devils have already signed Brazil international Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal thought to be worth £52m.
