Manchester United have made a £57m offer to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, according to a report in England.

Website 101 Goals, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that Manchester United have stepped up their interest in the Slovakia international in the summer transfer window.

The same article states that Jose Mourinho wants to add a centre-half to his Red Devils squad this summer to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season.

According to the same story, Inter Milan want at least £70m for the 23-year-old following his impressive performances throughout the 2017-18 campaign.

Inter signed Skriniar in a £20m deal from Serie A rivals Sampdoria in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The Slovakian defender scored four goals in 38 games in Serie A last season to underline his rising status in Italian football.

Manchester United signed Swedish defender Victor Lindelof in a £30m deal last summer but the 24-year-old has struggled to leave his mark at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last term after Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.

Manchester United have signed Fred and Diogo Dalot in the summer transfer window so far.
