Insider gives Man United transfer update on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Reporter Ian McGarry says Lazio are hoping Man United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to increase his value at World Cup
Lazio are hoping Sergej Milinković-Savić’s value will increase during the World Cup as the Serie A club prepared to offload the Manchester United target, according to Ian McGarry.
The Red Devils have been regularly linked with a move to sign the Serbia international in the summer transfer window following his impressive campaign.
Manchester United are rumoured to have been monitoring the 23-year-old playmaker over the past season after he was linked with Liverpool FC last summer.
The 20-time English champions have been linked with a bid but Lazio are thought to value the Serbian star at around £87m in the current transfer market.
Milinkovic-Savic scored 12 times in 34 games in Serie A last season to help Lazio secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
Reporter McGarry believes Lazio want to sell Milinkovic-Savic but the Italian giants are hoping his value will increase during the course of the World Cup.
“The player is effectively for sale because Lazio want to cash in,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.
“They will be hoping he performs in Russia and takes the tournament by storm so they can maximise his value.”
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term to secure a Champions League spot for the second successive season.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
