Liverpool FC could inadvertently help Manchester United to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer, according to a report
Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as Lazio eye Liverpool FC starlet Marko Grujic as a replacement for the Serbian, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that Lazio are hoping to land Grujic in a £5m deal from Manchester United’s Premier League rivals Liverpool FC in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that the Serie A giants want Grujic to replace his compatriot in the Lazio team before allowing Milinkovic-Savic to complete a move to Manchester United.
According to the same story, Lazio will demand £100m for the 23-year-old but Manchester United are hopeful of reducing the Italian club’s asking price to £88m.
The Serbia international scored 14 goals and made eight assists in the 2017-18 Serie A season to attract interest from Manchester United this summer.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is looking to improve his options in the middle of the park following Michael Carrick’s retirement at the end of the season.
Belgium international Marouane Fellaini could also complete a free transfer this summer which would leave Mourinho short on options in the middle of the park.
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term.
