Manchester United are likely to make a number of statement signings this summer, according to Ian McGarry.

The Red Devils have already begun their summer recruitment drive after having snapped up the signings of both Diogo Dalot and Fred last week.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Manchester United look to try and build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.

Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last term but missed out on a trophy when they were beaten by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final last month.

The Red Devils are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013 next season in what will be Mourinho’s second campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

And football consultant McGarry is backing the Red Devils to continue to look for some statement signings this summer.

Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, McGarry said: “It is important to make a statement transfer in the window.

“The ease of Man City winning the Premier League has caused a lot of pain and frustration. Mourinho knows that.”

Manchester United had won both the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge last term but failed to win a trophy this time around in a frustrating season.
