Sky Sports News reporter Toby Alderweireld claims Man United have been in touch with Spurs about signing the Belgian defender
Manchester United have been in contact with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal for Toby Alderweireld, according to Michael Bridge.
The Belgium international has been linked with a potential summer transfer after a difficult season at the north London club.
Alderweireld started 13 games and made one substitute appearance in the Premier League in the 2017-18 campaign.
The 29-year-old’s injury problems allowed his compatriot Jan Vertonghen to forge a partnership with Davison Sanchdz.
Jose Mourinho is looking to improve his Manchester United defence this summer to end their reliance on Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.
Sky Sports News reporter Bridge claimed that Manchester United have been in contact with Spurs over a potential deal.
“There are early talks between Man United and Spurs,” Bridge told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Man United are the only team to show a serious interest in Alderweireld.
“I am told Spurs are looking for a fee of around £75m.”
Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly ended the 2017-18 season the bench at Manchester United despite previously being an automatic starter at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last term but Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
