Man United leading the race to sign 29-year-old Premier League star – report
Manchester United are at the front of the queue to sign Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld, according to a report
Manchester United will be at the front of the queue to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld this summer, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Belgium international is attracting interest from the Red Devils in the current transfer market amid uncertainty surrounding his future at the north London side.
The same article states that Alderweireld wants to leave Tottenham this summer after making a mere two Premier League appearances in the calendar year so far.
According to the same story, Manchester United will lead the interest in the 29-year-old centre-half ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Tottenham are rumoured to have offered Alderweireld a deal worth £130,000 a week during the 2017-18 season but the Manchester United target wants £180,000 a week.
Alderweireld’s current deal will expire at the end of next season but Spurs do have the option to extend the Belgium international’s contract by an extra 12 months.
If they do exercise that clause, Alderweireld would be available in a £25m deal next summer.
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term to secure Champions League football for the second successive season.
