Man United want to make 29-year-old third summer signing – report
Manchester United are ready to launch a bid to sign Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld, according to a report
Manchester United are set to turn their focus to Toby Alderweireld after completing deals for Fred and Diogo Dalot, according to a report in England.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the Red Devils are ready to step up their interest in the Belgium international after securing the signing of the Brazilian midfielder and Portuguese defender.
Manchester United finalised a reported £52m deal to sign Fred from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk ahead of his participation in the World Cup in Russia later this month.
The Red Devils signed 19-year-old Dalot from Jose Mourinho’s former club FC Porto after the versatile full-back impressed against Liverpool FC in a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the Champions League.
The same article states that Alderweireld is next on their summer transfer list but Tottenham will demand £55m for the Belgium international’s signature.
According to the same story, Spurs could use their lavish transfer demands to block Alderweirield’s potential move to Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has fallen behind Davison Sanchez in the pecking order after he made just two appearances in 2018.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but ended up 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.
