Duncan Castles gives latest Man United transfer update on Toby Alderweireld
The Sunday Times reporter claims Toby Alderweireld and Tottenham's demands are preventing a move to Man United
Toby Alderweireld’s wage demands and Tottenham Hotspur’s price tag have made it difficult for prospective buyers such as Manchester United to secure a deal, Duncan Castles has claimed.
The 29-year-old is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur after the Belgian star made just three appearances in 2018 so far.
Spurs are rumoured to have offered Alderweireld a deal worth £130,000 a week during the 2017-18 season but the Manchester United target wants £180,000 a week.
Alderweireld’s current deal will expire at the end of next season but Spurs do have the option to extend the Belgium international’s contract by an extra 12 months.
If the north London side do so, former Atletico Madrid defender Alderweireld would be available next summer in a cut price deal of £25m.
Manchester United have been linked with a host of different centre-halves over the past few weeks in the summer transfer window.
Sunday Times reporter Castles believes both Alderweireld and Tottenham’s demands are proving problematic for potential suitors in the summer transfer window.
“The transfer fee and the wage demands have made it difficult for Alderweireld to find a club,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast.
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.
The Red Devils have also signed Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto.
