The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils’ asking price is currently too high for Spurs, who have been showing an interest in signing the 22-year-old forward this summer.
The same report says that Tottenham made initial contact with Manchester United about the possibility of signing Martial this summer.
However, the price quoted by Manchester United was deemed to be too much by the north London club.
Martial’s future has been a source of speculation in recent months due to his lack of playing time at Old Trafford last season.
The striker was not a regular starter in the Manchester United team as he ended up missing out on a place in the French World Cup squad.
Meanwhile, Manchester United officially confirmed their second signing of the summer transfer window last week by tying up a deal for Brazilian midfielder Fred.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a number of new signings as they bid to try and win the Premier League for the first time since 2013 next season.
