Manchester United target Gareth Bale is more likely to stay at Real Madrid following Zinedine Zidane’s exit, according to Spanish football expert Sid Lowe.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last season ahead of Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Manchester United ended up 19 points adrift of Premier League champions Manchester City.

The 20-time English champions have been linked with a potential move to sign Bale given his uncertain future at Real Madrid.

Bale struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Real Madrid team under Zinedine Zidane last term.

However, the Welsh forward came off the bench to score twice to help Real Madrid ease to a 3-1 win against Liverpool FC in the Champions League final in Kiev.

The French head coach’s exit could hand Bale a lifeline, although the Welshman is thought to be open to a transfer away from The Bernabeu.

Spanish football expert Lowe provided an update on Bale’s situation at Real Madrid amid continued speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United this summer.

“His chances of staying are much better now Zidane isn’t there,” Lowe told ESPN FC. “The clouds have cleared for Bale.”
