Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic hints that his future could lie at Lazio despite transfer speculation
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has hinted that he could remain at Lazio despite speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The Serbia international has been regularly touted as a potential Manchester United signing in the current transfer window.
It is no secret that Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is eager to improve his options in the middle of the park ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the standout midfielders in Serie A over the past couple of seasons to attract interest from Liverpool FC, Manchester City and Manchester United.
La Liga giants Real Madrid are also thought to be interested in the World Cup star, although the attacker failed to set the world alight in Russia following Serbia’s group-stage exit.
However, Milinkovic-Savic has hinted that his future could lie at Lazio despite the lure of a potential move to Manchester United this summer.
I need a little bit of rest now,” Milinkovic-Savic is quoted as saying by Daily Star.
“I’ll return to Rome and I would be happy if I stay at Lazio, as I’m content there and I have a contract.
“I read something different in the papers every day, but I haven’t thought about it yet. First, I’ll rest for a bit, then we’ll see.”
Milinkovic-Savic has scored 12 goals and has made three assists in 35 games in Serie A this season.
The Red Devils have already signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.
