Arsenal, Chelsea FC fall behind Serie A giants in race to sign 23-year-old – report
Arsenal and Chelsea FC have fallen behind Juventus in the race to sign Aleksandr Golovin from CSKA Moscow this summer, according to a report
Aleksandr Golovin favours a move to Serie A champions Juventus ahead of a switch to Arsenal or Chelsea FC this summer, according to a report in Italy.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport, as quoted by Calcio Mercato, is reporting that Golovin has his heart set on a switch to the Serie A giants this summer.
The same article states Chelsea FC were initially leading the race to sign Golovin but Juventus have edged in front of the FA Cup winners.
According to the same story, Golovin would prefer to move to Turin rather than London and Juventus can also offer the Russia international Champions League football next season.
Tuttosport add that CSKA Moscow value the World Cup star at around £27m, which could be out of Arsenal’s transfer budget given new manager Unai Emery has already signed five new players this summer.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a place in Europe’s premier club competition.
The Blues won the FA Cup in Antonio Conte’s final season in charge thanks to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Wembley.
Conte was axed as Chelsea FC manager on Thursday evening after just two seasons in charge of the west London club.
