Mesut Ozil has expressed his delight to take on the Arsenal number 10 shirt.

The Gunners playmaker has switched from No11 to No10 for the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.

Ozil was reported to be eager to secure Dennis Bergkamp’s pretisgious shirt number over the past few seasons.

However, England international Jack Wilshere was the occupant of Ozil’s desired shirt number to provide the Gunners with a dilemma.

But the versatile midfielder announced that he is set to leave the Gunners this summer in search of a new challenge.

As a result, Ozil is now the new Arsenal number 10 ahead of the north London side’s first season under new management.

The German star took to Instagram to express his delight at his number change ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Ozil wrote on the photo-sharing app: “🔟 – It’s more than just a number. Means a lot to me wearing it next season! Thanks, @arsenal 🙏🏼〽 #YaGunnersYa #M1Ö”

The Arsenal star was heavily criticised after Germany prematurely exited the World Cup in the group stage following surprise losses to Mexico and South Korea.

The Gunners playmaker has won three FA Cup titles since his £42.5m move to Arsenal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window.

Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season.
