Alexandre Lacazette insists he's expecting to form a strong partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal
Alexandre Lacazette has insisted that he is expecting to form a fruitful partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal.
Aubameyang is currently preparing for his first full season at The Emirates after having signed for the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.
There had been questions raised about whether Lacazette and Aubameyang would be able to play in the same team together.
However, Lacazette insists that he is fully expecting to be able to line up alongside Aubameyang this season and says that he is looking forward to developing a partnership with the striker.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Lacazette said: “I never said Aubameyang’s arrival was bad for me, only people in the press said it was bad.
“I was happy because I knew I could play with him. I didn’t see him as a rival more than a team-mate, so since the beginning I was happy about his signature.
“Of course, it’s good that we have a good relationship off the pitch. If people are good off the pitch, on the pitch it will be easier to play.”
Arsenal will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season after they finished in sixth place in the table and without a trophy last term.
The north London side have not won the Premier League title since 2004 and they are currently preparing for life under new boss Unai Emery after Arsene Wenger’s decision to stand down at the end of last season.
Arsenal have signed five new players so far this summer as they prepare for life under new boss Emery next season.
