Arsenal have not made an approach to sign Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors this summer, according to the player’s agent.
The north London side have been credited with an interest in signing the 22-year-old Argentina forward in recent weeks as the Gunners look to strengthen their options ahead of next season.
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Pavon’s development for some time and will have watched him in action for Argentina at the World Cup.
The same story says that Unai Emery is keen to bring in another attacking player this summer as he looks to strengthen his Arsenal side ahead of next season.
However, Pavon’s agent has now insisted that there has not yet been any official approach from Arsenal.
Agent Hidalgo is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “There is still nothing official from Arsenal.
“Pavon informed Boca’s hierarchy about his desire to stay and play in the Copa Libertadores.”
Arsenal will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season as they prepare for their first campaign under new boss Emery.
The north London side have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
They finished in sixth place and without a trophy under Arsene Wenger last term.
