Arsenal are getting closer to being able to conclude a deal to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move to bring the Uruguay midfielder to The Emirates in recent weeks as Unai Emery continues to look to revamp his squad ahead of next season.
Torreira is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the World Cup but Arsenal are believed to be closing in on a deal to bring him to The Emirates this summer.
Now, Sky Sports News reporter Sheth has revealed that the Gunners are getting closer and closer to being able to conclude a deal to bring the 22-year-old to the north London club this summer.
Speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast, Sheth said: “The stronger one is Lucas Torreira.
“Arsenal fans are getting excited about him giving his performances at the World Cup. It looks like it is getting closer.”
Arsenal have already made three new signings this summer as they look to revamp their squad ahead of next season.
The north London side have tied up deals for Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos as the north London side look to build a squad capable of breaking back into the top four next season.
The Gunners finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
