Henrikh Mkhitaryan welcomes new signing to Arsenal
Henrikh Mkhitaryan had a special message for Sokratis Papastathopoulos after he signed for Arsenal this week
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has taken to social media to welcome Sokratis Papastathopoulos to Arsenal after the defender signed for Arsenal this week.
The 30-year-old defender has become the north London club’s third signing of the summer after deals for both goalkeeper Bernd Leno and defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery has moved quickly to start assembling his squad ahead of next season as he looks to try and build a team at least capable of breaking back into the top four next term.
Mkhitaryan knows Papastathopoulos well, as the duo played together during their time at Borussia Dortmund.
And the Armenia playmaker, who is back in pre-season training with the Gunners, has taken to social media to welcome the new arrival to the club.
Mkhitaryan posted the video above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Welcome, #spartakus ! 😉😄💪🏼 @sokratispapa.official #gunner @arsenal.”
Arsenal are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of other new signings this summer as Emery prepares for his first season in charge at the club.
The north London side finished in sixth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last term under Arsene Wenger.
