Unai Emery replies when asked if Arsenal are signing 29-year-old
Unai Emery has refused to rule out a move for Arsenal to sign Steven N'Zonzi this summer
Unai Emery has refused to rule out a potential transfer bid to bring Steven N’Zonzi to Arsenal this summer.
The north London side have been busy in the summer transfer market following Emery’s appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor at The Emirates back in May.
Arsenal have already brought in Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos this summer as Emery looks to assemble a squad capable of at least breaking back into the top four next season.
Sevilla man N’Zonzi has been linked with a move back to the Premier League this summer and he has been touted as a target for Arsenal in recent weeks.
And Emery remained coy when quizzed about the speculation linking him with a move to bring the 29-year-old to The Emirates this summer.
Asked about Arsenal’s reported interest in signing N’Zonzi, Emery told a news conference on Thursday: “I know him but we haven’t made a move for him.”
Arsenal will be aiming to challenge for a top-four finish this season as the Gunners look to try and bounce back from their disappointing campaign last term.
The Gunners finished sixth in the Premier League table and without a trophy in Wenger’s final campaign in charge at the club last season.
