Lucas Torreira is likely to miss Arsenal’s first Premier League game of the season after he completed his move The Emirates on Tuesday, according to reports.

Website football.london, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Uruguay international will miss the start of the new season following confirmation of his transfer to Arsenal from Sampdoria.

Torreira, 22, was officially confirmed as Arsenal’s third summer signing but he has only just returned from World Cup duty with Uruguay.

As a result, the midfielder would be expected to miss Arsenal’s opening Premier League game of the season as he enjoys an extended summer break.

The same report says that Mesut Ozil, Alex Iwobi, Mohamed Elneny and Joel Campbell, all of whom featured at the World Cup, will report back to Arsenal for pre-season training on 23 July.

Arsenal will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season as they look to try and at least break back into the top four.

The Gunners finished in sixth place last term under Arsene Wenger and missed out on Champions League qualification as they ended up without a trophy.
