Italian website Gianluica Di Marzio, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that Arsenal are one of two clubs interested in a swoop to sign the Portuguese attacker.
The story goes on reveal that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen on a deal to sign Gomes to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
The same article states that the former Valencia star is rated at around £35m (€40m), which would be a significant transfer fee for Arsenal and Spurs.
Gianluca Di Marzio suggest that Serie A giants Juventus could enter the race to sign the 24-year-old attacker in the current transfer window.
Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the second successive campaign.
