Unai Emery told Portugal forward would be ‘perfect’ for Arsenal
Sky Sports News reporter Jules Warren believes Gelson Martins would be an ideal signing for Arsenal
Gelson Martins would be a perfect fit for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, reporter Jules Warren has claimed.
The Portugal international is sure to be one of the hottest priorities in the summer transfer market.
Martins is available to sign on a free transfer this summer after the Portuguese talent cancelled his contract with Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese side are in turmoil and Martins is one of four players who has moved to terminate their deals due to just cause.
The 23-year-old would have commanded a significant transfer fee giving his rising status as a star of Portuguese football.
Martins netted 13 times in 52 games in all competitions last season to attract interest from Arsenal and some other clubs.
Arsenal are expected to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira in a combined £46m deal.
Sky Sports News reporter Warren has claimed that the Gunners would benefit from the addition of Martins to their squad this summer.
“Gelson Martins has been strongly linked with Arsenal,” Warren told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“The fact that Arsenal don’t have too much money to play with this summer, it could fit perfectly for them.”
Arsenal signed experienced Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus.
The Gunners have also brought in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal.
The north London outfit have also brought on Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.
