Arsenal still interested in World Cup star despite interest in FC Barcelona star – report
Arsenal are interested in deals for FC Barcelona forward Andre Gomes and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to a report
Arsenal are still interested in a deal to sign Lucas Torreira despite Gunners boss Unai Emery looking at a potential swoop to sign FC Barcelona’s Andre Gomes, according to a report.
The Independent, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Gunners are looking at the possibility of signing the Portugal international in the current transfer window to bolster Emery’s options ahead of the new season.
The same article states that Arsenal will still look to sign Sampdoria midfielder Torreira in the summer transfer market to reinforce the Spanish head coach’s options in the middle of the park.
According to the same story, the north London side is “hugely interested” in a big-money deal to sign the FC Barcelona midfielder but will face competition for the highly rated Portuguese forward.
The Gunners announced their third summer signing earlier this week after Arsenal completed a swoop to sign Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery started his summer recruitment with the addition of Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus back in May.
The Gunners have also signed Germany international Bernd Leno in a £20m deal from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen to provide Petr Cech and David Ospina for competition for the number one spot.
