Ray Parlour explains what new Arsenal signing will bring to Gunners team
The Arsenal legend believes Lucas Torreira will add to a competitive edge to the Gunners team

Lucas Torreira will bring a competitive edge to the Arsenal side, Ray Parlour says.
The Gunners signed Torreira in a £26m deal from Serie A outfit Sampdoria last week to improve Unai Emery’s options in the midfield.
Arsenal were tracking the Uruguay international throughout his impressive performances in the World Cup.
The Gunners managed to see off competition to sign Torreira as the South American became their fourth summer signing.
Torreira will be tasked with competing for a starting spot alongside Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny next term.
Former Arsenal star Parlour believes Torreira will bring a competitive edge to Emery’s starting line-up next term.
“I think Torreira is a very good signing for Arsenal. He has a tough competitive edge that the spine of the team has been missing,” Parlour told bWIN.
“He’s also a very mobile player who is capable of getting around the pitch and I think the midfield has been crying out for that. [Granit] Xhaka has had a good World Cup, but he’s someone who needs a mobile player next to him to cover the ground he can’t.
“Torreira is also good on the ball and very efficient in possession.”
Arsenal have snapped up Juventus and Switzerland veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer to improve their defence.
The Gunners have also signed Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
Arsenal have also brought in Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Lorient teenager Matteo Guendouzi.
