Sky Sports News reporter sends message to Gunners fans about new Arsenal signing
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth claims Matteo Guendouzi has been added to the Arsenal squad with one eye on the future
Matteo Guendouzi is a signing for the future following his move to Arsenal, Dharmesh Sheth has claimed.
The Gunners completed a deal to sign the Lorient midfielder last week as their fifth summer signing.
Guendouzi has represented France at Under-20 level and the talented starlet has built a glowing reputation at Lorient.
The 19-year-old made 20 appearances in all competitions last season to make significant progress.
Guendouzi moved to Laurent Koscielny’s former club Lorient from Paris Saint-Germain in the 2014 summer transfer window.
Guendouzi will finalise a switch to Arsenal last week and has already made his first appearance for the Gunners in a pre-season friendly.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth believes Arsenal signed Guendouzi with one eye on the future.
“It is an investment in the future rather than a ready-made midfielder like Torreira,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“We think a fee of £8m was agreed with Lorient.”
Arsenal have already signed four other players in the summer transfer window since Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger back in May.
Arsenal signed experienced Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus.
The Gunners have also brought in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal.
The north London outfit have also brought in Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.
Lucas Torreira became the fourth addition at The Emirates last week.
