Arsenal consider swoop to sign 23-year-old World Cup star – report
Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign Senegal striker M'Baye Niang from Torino this summer, according to a report
Arsenal are weighing up a potential swoop to sign Senegal striker M’Baye Niang from Serie A outfit Torino this summer, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media website Tuttosport, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign the Senegal international following his impressive World Cup performances.
The same article states that Arsenal are one of a number of potential suitors to sign Niang but face competition from Premier League rivals Watford, who are also keen on the African star.
According to the same story, Niang is also being chased by Everton manager Marco Silva, while Ligue 1 trio Monaco, Marseille and Nice are thought to be keeping tabs on the Torino striker.
Arsenal have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the 2018 summer transfer window so far following the signings of three new players under Arsene Wenger’s replacement Unai Emery.
Arsenal signed experienced Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus.
The Gunners have also brought in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal.
The north London outfit have also brought on Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.
